Just You Try to Shut Me Up

It seems like once the six-months-till-the-wedding date passes, everyone starts to get real serious about planning.  I (the bride) have been serious about planning for over a year now, but everyone else (including the groom) have shrugged me off until this point.  Now everyone is freaking out, and I am the only calm one - since half of what they are freaking out about I've already planned for :P

Anyway, I have recently been receiving quite a few requests to speak (or give a toast) at the wedding.  Our Dad's will both be speaking to welcome guests (and the new addition to the family), Sister Pudding/MOH will speak, as will BIL/BM.  It is customary at Polish weddings for the godmothers and godfathers to speak, and although I am unsure if they will, I will certainly give them the option.  I have recently decided that I would like Mama Pudding to say something as well (even though she says that she will be too emotional), and of course, Mr. P will do the customary Groom's toast.

That's a lot of talking, but I don't care.  I figure that every single person that is invited is either family or a close friend, and will want to hear nice (and embarrassing) things said about us.

But there will also be one very, very special, very nontraditional speaker at our wedding.....ME!

I know that Emily Post would probably frown on this, but I just can't imagine not getting a chance to express my joy on such a special day.  That, and I'm a huge microphone hog, and I love the sound of my own voice.  Seriously.  I've served as the M.C. at many a wedding/cultural event.  Just look at me hamming it up:

Oh yah, I'm loving every minute of that.  Just you try to shut me up at my own wedding!

Are there any other brides ditching tradition and planning to give a speech or toast at their wedding?
